# VERTO current public navigation — evidence notes

This records the existing public site, not a proposed IA. Exact original `href` values are retained alongside absolute `url` values in `navigation.json`. Placeholder `#` menu headings have `url: null`; they are not invented pages. Labels are extracted text with HTML whitespace collapsed, not rewritten editorial titles.

## Sources and verification

- Homepage: https://www.verto.org.au/ — original server HTML at `../sources/homepage.html`; independently captured live DOM at `sources/homepage-rendered.html`.
- Primary selector: `nav[aria-label="stacked menu"] > ul`; sticky counterpart: `nav[aria-label="sticky menu"] > ul`; mobile: `#astroid-mobilemenu > ul`.
- Footer: `#footer .footer-a-position .uk-panel`; separate legal bar immediately below the footer section. These are custom-module links, not the same thing as the published sitemap's “Footer Menu”.
- Published HTML sitemap: **https://www.verto.org.au/html-sitemap?view=html&id=1**, preserved at `sources/html-sitemap_view=html_id=1-rendered.html`. OSMap `.osmap-items > h2` groups and nested `ul/li` are preserved in `published_sitemap`.
- All catalogue sources are individually retained as `sources/*-rendered.html`; JSON catalogue entries point to their exact evidence files.
- `sources/homepage-desktop-1440.png` visually verifies the top-level desktop menu, utility labels and Search control. The submenu did not visibly expand in that capture: expanded submenu structure is **DOM/server-HTML evidence**, not claimed visual evidence.
- Browser used a dedicated `verto-navigation` session and its owned tab only. Live public pages loaded normally, including all course categories, locations, news/blog and the exact sitemap query. No forms submitted or live-site writes made. Browser inspection is finished; owned tab remains on Current Vacancies, page 3.
- Atlas Jev was attempted first but could not connect to loopback port 9222 (connection refused). Normal browser inspection succeeded; no paid model fallback was used.
- Independent `requests` fetches returned Joomla 403/503 for these paths; their response bodies and metadata remain under `sources/` and `sources/catalogue-inspection.json`. These are session/transport-specific failed evidence, **not** proof that the public pages or browser access are globally blocked. No denied resource bypass was attempted.

## Navigation hierarchy

`primary`, `sticky` and `mobile` each contain **55 nodes**, including five top-level entries and placeholder headings. The top level, in order:

1. Home — icon link, accessible/source title `Home`, `/`.
2. Employment Services — `/employment-services`.
3. Community Services — `/community-services`.
4. Traineeships & Training — `/training`.
5. Contact Us — `/contact-us`.

Employment Services children: Inclusive Employment Australia; Parent Pathways; Transition to Work; Self-Employment Assistance; Workforce Australia; Employer Support.

Community Services children: Indigenous Services; Tenants' Advice & Advocacy; Financial Counselling.

Desktop Traineeships & Training headings in DOM/column order:
- Traineeships: What is a Traineeship?; Are you a business?; Are you a student?
- Training Services: Training; Qualifications; Short Courses; Fees & Payment Options.
- Colleges: Western College - Dubbo; Riverina Community College - Wagga Wagga (external).
- SEE program: Skills for Education and Employment.
- Student Hub: Access My Learning; Health and Wellbeing; Good News from Training Services.
- Meet the Team: Join our Training Team; Meet the VERTO Trainers.

**Mobile order differs:** Traineeships; Training Services; SEE program; Colleges; Meet the Team; Student Hub. Both actual orders are retained, not silently reconciled into a guessed universal order.

Contact Us has an **empty-label heading** (source menu ID 719) containing General Enquiries; Media Enquiries; Our Locations; Join our team; Current Vacancies; Feedback. This blank group is retained as `title: ""`, not renamed “Contact”. It is followed by About Us (Our Ambassadors; Our Services; About Us; Our Board; Executive Leadership Team; Reconciliation Action Plan; Corporate Information; Our Heritage), then News (News; Blog; Subscribe to our Newsletter).

Utility controls, in source order: Contact us; Our locations; 1300 483 786; Search. Search is an AJAX form control with no ordinary destination URL in the form markup, represented explicitly rather than inventing a `/search` page.

## Footer

Four source headings: **Quick Links**, **About VERTO**, **Resources**, **Info**. Their children and exact ordering are in `footer`; social links, phone/email source link and agency credit are retained. The separate legal bar contains Sitemap; Site Information; Accessibility; Privacy Policy; Competition T&C's. Total model footer nodes: **50**, including group containers, social/contact links, legal container and credit.

Some footer URLs differ from primary-menu equivalents, e.g. Transition to Work and Self-Employment Assistance use `/our-services/employment/...`, while the primary uses `/employment-services/...`. Original hrefs are preserved; this work does not assert all aliases resolve or replace them with guessed canonicals. The original footer email href is a Cloudflare protected link, while live DOM exposes `info@verto.org.au`; raw source evidence remains intact.

## Published sitemap tree (separate from visible navigation)

All **899 source `li` nodes** are represented, plus four group containers (**903 model nodes**):

| Published group | Descendant nodes |
|---|---:|
| SEO Menu | 874 |
| Footer Menu | 1 |
| Main Menu | 20 |
| Locations | 4 |

Keep these trees separate from the visible primary/footer structures. They are published OSMap output, not an assumption that every CMS menu is rendered in the global header. This tree supplies evidence-based group membership for otherwise flat routes. Heading-only OSMap `span.osmap-item-heading` nodes are preserved with no destination.

## Catalogue recovery and crawl gaps

### Locations

https://www.verto.org.au/location-search renders a My Maps Location (`com_mymaplocations`) search with distance and service filters. **139 entries recovered**, matching its explicit “Total: 139 results found.” Entries include original detail URLs, source location IDs and address text. Several service-specific offices share town names but have distinct URLs; no town-name deduplication was applied. Some addresses identify limited-hours sites or offices operating out of another site.

Distance values depend on the browser's default search origin and are not used as IA. Details links are real crawlable public URLs; map marker and Route controls use JavaScript and are not pages. All 139 entries were present in the captured rendered DOM without submitting a search.

### Qualifications and Short Courses

The landing pages are category gateways, **not flat complete course lists**:

| Category URL | Declared and recovered entries |
|---|---:|
| `/filter/business-leadership` | 5 |
| `/filter/community-and-health` | 10 |
| `/filter/hospitality2` | 1 |
| `/filter/retail` | 1 |
| `/filter/foundation-skills` | 3 |
| `/filter/hospitality` | 7 |
| `/filter/first-aid` | 3 |
| `/filter/construction` | 4 |

Each category's extracted entries were programmatically reconciled to its displayed “Results … of N”. These are **34 category result occurrences**, not a claim that the whole site has only 34 courses. OSMap includes additional classifications/pages absent from those gateways (e.g. Warehousing / Supply Chain Operations). Qualification Hospitality uses `/filter/hospitality2`; short-course Hospitality uses `/filter/hospitality` — do not merge these destinations.

Short Courses also links to HSC Leavers (`/hsc-leavers`, with Bathurst/Orange/Young/Mudgee/Dubbo city choices) and Foundation Skills & Employability, which is an actual PDF destination rather than a missing page. These links are retained in catalogue link arrays.

Enrolment actions:
- Qualifications “Online ENROLMENT APPLICATION”: https://verto.assessapp.com/webforms/3160/new
- “SHORT COURSE ENROLMENT APPLICATION”: https://verto.assessapp.com/webforms/76063/new/74777
- Access My Learning → Cloud Assess login: https://verto.assessapp.com/users/sign_in

No enrolment or login destination was submitted or authenticated.

### News and Blog

Both render six featured cards **and** a separate ten-row article table. The cards repeat table entries; do not add them as extra articles. They have title filters and a Display # selector including All.

- `/news`: captured Page 1 of 39; observed last-page link `/news?start=380`.
- `/blog`: captured Page 1 of 18; observed last-page link `/blog?start=170`.

First-page table entries and exact pagination links are retained. Full article enumeration is intentionally left to the parent's XML/HTML crawl; page counts alone are not treated as exact article totals. No search/filter form was submitted.

### Current Vacancies

A **JavaScript JobAdder widget**, not ordinary destination links: job titles and pager links use `href="#"` plus `data-job-id`/`data-page`. A normal HTML-only crawl can miss the listing entirely. All **three pages** were captured using the real public pager; **15 distinct job IDs** are retained with titles, classifications and posting dates. These are separate catalogue snapshots of the same page URL, not invented page-2/page-3 URLs. Job details/applications were not opened.

Public fallback action: https://www.seek.com.au/Verto-jobs/at-this-company. Widget source: `https://apps.jobadder.com/widgets/v1/jobs.min.js`.

## Limits

- No claim that every published sitemap URL is currently HTTP 200; parent response ledger owns full crawl/status reconciliation.
- News/blog full article collection and all linked PDFs remain parent inventory responsibilities.
- Course-specific future course dates/session availability and job application contents were not enumerated.
- `external` records observed destinations with source files; it includes social, video, plugin attribution, college and portal links rather than guessing which external links are “core IA”.

## Files

- `navigation.json`: machine-readable current navigation, utility/footer, published sitemap tree, catalogues, external destinations, provenance and counts.
- `sources/`: browser-rendered public HTML, original failed request bodies, source-inspection JSON and desktop screenshot.
- `recover_navigation.py`: initial request/source extraction (contains network fetches; do not rerun just to rebuild outputs).
- `finalize_navigation.py`: offline-only source parser and result-count checks; rebuilds `navigation.json` from preserved sources.
